Stevenson Donates Keystone Wall to Pukekohe East Primary School

When the children at Pukekohe East Primary School wrote to Stevenson requesting a Keystone Retaining Wall, Stevenson were happy to help out.
The story began when the school’s “envirogroup” had an idea of building a butterfly garden. Ms Bennett’s New Entrant class were keen on undertaking the project, and took a field trip to Butterfly Creek to learn all about butterflies. They decided on a Keystone retaining wall as the backbone of the garden, and subsequently wrote a letter to Steve Willis, Stevenson’s General Manager of Manufacturing, who organised the blocks to be delivered.
The children then rallied their dads, who placed all the 36kg Keystone blocks in a massive koru shape, while the children worked away at a mosaic path, which would eventually lead to a bench seat fashioned from a totara log. The project, which began in November last year, is almost complete and only needs plants for the finishing touches. Ms Bennett says “we were very excited when we received the news from Steve Willis to say that our wall would be donated. It will look great when it is completed; we are so proud of our efforts.”
