Cobus joined Stevenson in 2005 after emigrating from South Africa. He is a second year student studying for a diploma in engineering (civil) at Unitec. Cobus is currently registered with the Stevenson Education Assistance Programme, under which he will return service in exchange for both financial and academic support. He has been in charge of sampling and testing of aggregates and soils for several recent major infrastructure projects including testing for the State Highway 2 Mangatawhiri Deviation, a Multiplex HEB joint venture, and testing for Fulton Hogan/Enviro Waste Services at the Hampden Downs Landfill. ‘My work challenges me both academically and physically on a daily basis and provides me with a solid foundation for my engineering career.’ Cobus combines his work at Stevenson with part-time study and playing premier grade rugby.
